Monday was Labor Day, so no school or work, thankfully. Jeremy and Sunshine have been under the weather, so an extra day of rest for them was good. Sunshine and I were super happy to have a three day weekend to recover from the first week of seminary. I meant to get up early and get right to work, but I just couldn’t do it, which meant I had a slower start to the day than I intended.

When I did get moving, I did production work- cutting and prepping campfire mug kits, key fobs, bracelets, and making more leather tags for sewn items. The jigs really did save a ton of time, so they were definitely worth the time and effort to make them.

Tuesday we were back to the early morning seminary schedule. So rough. Though it’s definitely been helpful in getting an earlier start to our day, which is part of why we’re doing it. We did music lessons online since the kids have all been sniffing and snotting. Nothing serious, but I didn’t want to share our germs with our music teacher. Doing it online also opened up our morning schedule for getting more schoolwork done earlier, which meant I could get back to work earlier. There’s less than a week and a half till the next conference and I’ve got a lot of items to make before then.

After lessons I finished the foraging straps, as much as I could, since I had to order some more clips for the ends of the straps. I have a child size strap and an adult size strap and it took longer than I wanted to figure out the lengths of the straps- we’ll see if they stay those lengths or if I change them up. The current lengths are a pain to work with- one 46″ long strap and one shorter (12″ for child or 27″ for adult). But I’m trying to avoid having the buckle land on the shoulder, so I do need a longer and a shorter strap. Having extra length on the long strap means that they’ll accommodate a wider range of heights. Maybe I’ll add a teen size strap and shorten all of them so they don’t need to cover such a wide spectrum. I’ll see how popular the straps are at the conference before I make a final decision.

In the afternoon I was definitely not feeling wonderful. What had been masquerading as lack of sleep had revealed itself as the bug going around the family. It’s not awful, but it’s there and it needs to go away quickly. I have too much work to do in the next week and I have to be healthy for the conference.

Wednesday I felt worse than I had on Tuesday. Sunshine also did so we stayed home from seminary with the understanding that she’d go on Thursday since it’ll be my turn to drive. The extra sleep was good, though it meant I got a later start than I’d wanted on my work. After my accountability call I worked on pockets. It was slow going since I wasn’t feeling great, but at least I got some work done.

Thursday was my carpool day. I used the time to sort mail from the last two months or so and pay bills.

I was dragging all day, but I did manage to finish the pockets. So tired. I didn’t feel all sniffy and sneezy like everyone else, but there’s a low grade feeling of blech in my head and I’m super tired. Jeremy says the fatigue has been an issue for him as well. I really wanted to finish the pockets and buckets today, but didn’t quite manage it since I’m waiting on more webbing for the pockets.

Friday I finally finished the buckets, though it took most of the day since I was still dragging. I also organized all the finished products and listed out what still needs to be done: adding some hardware and tying tags on are the chief tasks, but can also be done in the hotel or even at the convention center, so they’re lower on my to-do list than the products that still need to be sewn, like notebook covers and zip bags.

We met our friends so they could take Sunshine to her Scout campout. The dad was going, so he drove her both ways, which was super helpful since Jeremy had drill this weekend as well.

Saturday I slept in finally, which was nice, though I wasn’t able to sleep as late as I’d have liked since Ocean’s instinctive reaction to anything his brother does that he doesn’t like is to loudly screech at him. We’re trying to train it out of him by making him do jumping jacks whenever he screeches but I sometimes am not close enough to tell him to do the jumping jacks when he needs to.

I matched up, cut leather, and glued notebook covers together. I will sew them on Monday. I also cut leather for another style of notebook cover, one that doesn’t require sewing, but will need the pages sewn in.

That evening we met our friends to pick up Sunshine. They had a good campout, though their hike was cut short after it started raining. It wasn’t pouring, but it was enough to dampen everyone’s enthusiasm.
