Monday morning the boys slept in, which surprised me since it’s a very rare occurrence. They didn’t wake up till I was in the shower. After my shower, we loaded up and headed out for the final leg of the trip. It was fairly uneventful, though we did run into rain and heavy fog coming around the mountain just past Waynesboro. There’s lights in the road for guidance, but it really wasn’t dark enough for them to be super helpful. Thankfully, it didn’t last long as we drove out of the fog on the other side of the mountain, and it didn’t slow us down that much.
We got home at 5:30, so about 8 hours total for the day. We unloaded everything, ate some dinner that we’d picked up in town, and I put the boys to bed; though they took longer than I thought they should to actually go to sleep.
Max did well on the trip, but didn’t eat or drink much. Even though I made frequent stops, I think she didn’t like not having free access to poop and pee whenever she wanted, so she self-restricted food and water. I thought she’d chew on the toys I brought, but she mostly just laid quietly in her crate. Sometimes she’d sit up and look around, but mostly she just curled up and laid quietly. She enjoyed running around and stretching her legs every time we stopped, but didn’t balk at hopping back in her crate when it was time to go.
The boys did well, especially once we settled on the optimal spacing for everyone. River sat in the center row next to Max and Ocean sat in the back row, behind Max. There was a suitcase next to him, behind River, which meant he couldn’t whack on his brother easily.
At 10pm I picked up Sunshine from the airport. They arrived about half an hour early, but we live close, so it wasn’t too much of an issue. She almost missed her first flight on the way home because of being randomly chosen for a TSA pat down, even though their flight was already loading. She barely made it, though her bags ended up in random spots, which made finding a tampon super fun for her. There were a couple others in her group that also barely made the flight, which caused a lot of stress for the adult leaders.
I’d designated Tuesday as my stay-in-bed-and-do-nothing day to try to speed up recovery. Sunshine also spent the day in bed, recovering. She had a lot of fun, but was super tired.
Wednesday I did some grocery shopping since we’d emptied the fridge before we all went our different directions, but a migraine kept me from being as productive as I’d hoped in the afternoon.
I didn’t sleep well Wednesday night, so Thursday wasn’t a super productive day, though I did start designing the flyers that will go in the swag bags for the conference I’m attending in September- I need to get them designed and printed soon.
Friday I did some sewing on my canvas zip bags. I’m finally starting to get back in the groove of creativity, which feels good. Karate class had a tough warmup, which was more challenging than I’d expected (though I should have since I have lost so much stamina this summer), but at least the rest of the class wasn’t too bad.
Saturday I got a slow start to the day, but I finished my two zip bags and the custom order wheelchair pouch <finally>. I ordered some zippers and ribbon for the medium size bags, and on Monday I’ll start cutting canvas to start production. I had some super sore muscles on my ribs from karate class Friday night. I haven’t worked those muscles that well in a long time.
