Monday I was up early to leave at 7am to take Sunshine and another YCA from our ward to the stake center an hour away. All the stake adult and youth leaders headed to camp on Monday and will be joined by ward adults and the rest of the youth on Tuesday.

Sunshine wasn’t super thrilled about leaving again so soon, but after two negative covid tests (Sunday afternoon and Monday morning) we didn’t let her plead illness as an excuse. When we arrived, the stake YW president commented that she was so happy Sunshine was there- most of our stake went to FSY the week before Sunshine did, and a number came back sick, so I think they’re short on YCAs now.

After I got home I cut and started sewing two zip pouches, but I had to lay down because I wasn’t feeling well. I’m almost at two weeks at the higher dose of my medication, if the symptoms don’t settle within the next week I’ll have to go back down a step because the high blood pressure and tachycardia are being too disruptive to my life. I need to be working and functional (and exercising would be nice, too), but I’m still struggling right now.

Ocean finally lost his first tooth!

Tuesday we went to music lessons and then I had to lay down. The dealership called again (they’d called Monday and said the catalytic converter gaskets needed to be replace), this time they said it was actually the whole converter that needed to be replaced, at about three times the original quote. So frustrating.

At karate it was very obvious that my meds are just not right. I had to sit down a couple times because I was getting dizzy. While Monday I had planned on sticking it out another week to see if the side effects would go away, after karate class I changed my mind. I just can’t do it anymore. Two weeks is more than enough time for the side effects to settle and they’re too disruptive at this point.

Wednesday I stepped back down to the intermediate dose of my medication, but these meds have a cumulative effect, so I don’t know how long it will take to get the dosage in my body back down to a manageable level. I’ve messaged my sleep doc, but am waiting to hear back from her.

At my accountability call we were discussing how we’ve both essentially lost the last year- her to covid, me to narcolepsy, and we’ve both had to come to terms with that. Momentum lost, directions changed, frustrations, etc.

I finally got our glasses ordered a couple weeks ago and they arrived this week. The boys picked out their frames based on their current favorite colors 😉

Thursday I was still struggling with fatigue from doing things that elevate my blood pressure, so while I did a little decluttering, it wiped me out.

That evening we picked up the Camry and it better not have any more problems. We’re reaching the point where it will cost more to fix things than it will to just find a new car. But we’re trying to pay off debt, not add to it by getting even an older new car (as opposed to the new Subaru we got last year). The reality is that two of our cars are 15 and 16 years old and both have about 200k miles, so they will have problems. We’ve been blessed that they’ve been well-built cars with minimal issues, but even if they are good cars they won’t last forever. It’s been super nice having paid-for, reliable cars though.

Friday I wasn’t as productive as I’d like, though I did a little decluttering and we went to karate class, where we did some testing. Class left me sweating and out of breath. The meds have really done a number on my ability to handle physical exertion.

Saturday I mowed the lawn, including edges, which had been ignored the last couple times the lawn was mowed. It takes longer, but it looks so much better than it did. Jeremy needs to do a little weed whacking still, but not as much as before.

I organized and labeled bins of household storage stuff in the shipping container and hauled some bins from the house to the container. I still have some organizing to do: mostly stuff that needs to be gotten rid of one way or another.

I picked up Sunshine from church after YW camp mid-afternoon.  Jeremy made dinner for us and a family in our ward that’s moving in a couple days, and I took it over to them. I haven’t been able to help them with packing/cleaning/etc, but at least we could do this for them. We haven’t had a chance to talk in a few months, so it was nice to catch up for a few minutes.

I managed to get a lot done, and while I was tired, it wasn’t the wiped out I have to go lay down feeling I’ve been having. My BP and HR still problematic, but not quite so bad.

Our replacement RV skylights were finally delivered Saturday afternoon. I’m sure glad we didn’t actually take the RV on a road trip out west this summer since we’d have had to do so with a sketchily patched skylight. I definitely wasn’t anticipating a 6 week delivery time when I ordered them. Now to find time to install them…

We were supposed to take Sunshine to NYLT right after church on Sunday, but decided to let her stay home from it. She was exhausted after being gone for two weeks, and being a YCA was much more demanding than just going as a camper. Add in the current higher infection rates for covid, and we decided to just keep her home, let her rest, and try to make sure she doesn’t get sick between now and when she arrives at SeaBase next Monday. If she has a positive test between now and then she won’t be able to attend.

Sunday I was tired from everything I did Saturday, but this was the same tiredness from doing stuff that I’ve been dealing with for the last couple years. While it’s still frustrating to deal with, it’s familiar, it’s not the wiped out exhaustion I’ve been dealing with the last 6 weeks, and it means I’m actually able to do stuff again.

I also had enough energy to finally sit down and finish updating my backlogged posts. For whatever reason, choosing and uploading the photos is a stumbling block in my ability to stay on top of this. No idea why. I didn’t quite finish catching up, but I made really good progress.
