Monday was the Fourth of July and while I laid in bed all day, I managed to get up and eat ribs by the fire while the kids roasted marshmallows. Afterwards, we did some driveway fireworks and sparklers before I collapsed back in bed.
Tuesday Jeremy took the kids to karate while I stayed home. I was super glad I did as they reported that the warm up portion was super intense. There’s no way I would have survived it.
Wednesday I got up and did my accountability call and a Costco run, then collapsed back in bed.
Thursday I went to the chiropractor and did the Kroger pickup, then I went back to bed for awhile. I did go to karate in the evening, and though I was sweating before we even started, I made it through. The warm up was much less intense (different activities all together) than Tuesday, though it was still a challenge. I went straight back to bed when we got home.
Friday I spent most of the day in bed. I’m feeling better, but I’m still so tired. At this point the covid symptoms are gone, leaving just exhaustion. We went to karate in the evening and once again it had the easier warmup, thankfully.
Saturday I dropped Sunshine off at karate, then met Jeremy at the Verizon store to finish transferring numbers to our new phones (we had our old ones for almost 4 years and they were on their last legs). We started the process in June, but didn’t finish due to delays in the phones arriving, my illness, and lack of time to get the issues resolved. Jeremy and I have had different carriers for years and when Sunshine got a phone last year, we added a third carrier (since she had a dumb smart phone). We let Sunshine get a real phone this year, so this process finally consolidated us from three carriers to one.
After we got the phones straightened out, Jeremy ran some errands with the boys and I took Sunshine to find items for her camps. Mostly SeaBase, but also to round out some camping gear and update her clothing. We need to replace our old two person tent that I’ve had since I took a backpacking class in college 23 years ago. Sunshine managed to snap one of the poles on her last campout, so it was time to replace it. We went to 5 different stores, but I didn’t find as much as I’d hoped, so I ended up having to go online to order the rest. Hopefully everything arrives in time. She’s supposed to have a bag check Monday night, but she won’t have everything, so we’ll see how that goes.
We could have tried one or two more stores, but I just did not have the energy. I was so drained and exhausted- in a way I haven’t been in years. Though I vividly remember feeling this way while shopping in the years before and after Sunshine was born. Needing to do the shopping, but being so drained that I did the bare minimum and was still exhausted. What I need was across the store- do I really need it? Is it worth the extra energy to walk over and look? Usually the answer was no I didn’t need it and no I didn’t have the energy to do any more walking.
We had planned on leaving for our road trip after Jeremy got off work on Friday the first, but even if gas wasn’t super expensive, there’s no way we would have been ready. I could not have done the shopping and packing and Jeremy wouldn’t have had time since he would have had to work as much as possible to take two weeks off. Sunshine could have packed, but she does not have the tetris packing gene. I would have had to spend all my time while driving lying on the uncomfortable sofa since sitting up for any length of time is still a challenge, a week after our original leave date.
Since everyone had to stay home because I was sick, Sunshine missed some of the time we’d planned on her using to get her attendance stripes. Because we stayed home, she regained the two weeks she needed to finish her attendance requirements and to test.
