Monday I didn’t sleep well, so I had a slow start to the day, but I did manage to get up and finish cutting the pocket pals. Jeremy and his brother went to see a movie and the boys played video games while Sunshine laid in bed feeling crappy from her booster shot. She didn’t react too badly to her 2nd shot, so I wasn’t expecting her to feel crummy on this one, but that wasn’t the case. But she needs it so that she hopefully doesn’t get sick this summer with all her camps and travels. The last camp is SeaBase and they have to have a negative test before leaving, so she either needs to get sick now or get her booster shot to hopefully boost her immunity enough to stay healthy. Too bad SeaBase isn’t the first camp- that would make me a lot less worried about the situation.
On their way home from the movie, the guys stopped by Lowes and bought a new sink and faucet, then spent the rest of the day and half the night installing it. The faucet broke recently (frankly, I’m surprised it lasted as long as it did- we replaced it not long after we bought the house, but since we bought it online we didn’t realize it was plastic until it arrived) and the sink has always been an ugly, stained, porcelain type (but not really, actually some weird composite) material.
I worked on pocket pals while they were doing the sink since it was supposed to be a surprise for me 😉. After cutting the leather I started installing snaps.
Tuesday music lessons were just with the boys since Sunshine still wasn’t feeling well. River has taken Ocean’s lesson spot on several occasions (some battles aren’t worth fighting), and he does well with the longer time frame. Ocean usually has a short lesson, but on this day he had a really good longer lesson.
I took a nap when we returned since I didn’t sleep well again, then I shipped an order and finished installing snaps on the pocket pals. I also installed snaps on the bracelets I’d cut from the leather scraps.
At karate class Sunshine got her last attendance stripe and Ocean tested his universal 5, but he needs to practice a bit more still. Unfortunate, since I’d hoped to only go to class the one time this week.
I realized that my next convention is next week and I have stuff to finish before then. I mean, I knew it, but the logistics of it hadn’t sunk in yet. How does time always get away from me like this?
Wednesday I was able to take Max for a run! This was my first time running since Ragnar since it’s rained so much the last month and the dry trail days never corresponded with the days I had time to run. Maxi was super excited and had a great time. Despite the heat, I also felt good.
After my accountability call, I shipped an order, took inventory of products on hand (what I need to make), and ordered some stickers to giveaway and some Pocket Pal labels.
Thursday we went to Washington DC to the Temple open house. I cut threads the whole way up there for PP kits, then taped needles on the way back (I put a small piece of washi tape on each needle so they don’t get lost).
Jeremy took Ocean to karate, where he finally passed his universal 5 test, then he headed up to Maryland for a three day drill weekend.
Friday I went to the chiropractor in the morning. In the late afternoon the boys and I took Sunshine to her Order of the Arrow induction weekend. We arrived 45 minutes later than planned (though still within the arrival window, thankfully) due to a pickup truck pulling a travel trailer that rolled into the median and the trailer landed on its side. This closed the left lane of traffic in the direction we were going. The driver must have lost control going around and up the curve. While Sunshine arrived before the cutoff, they ended up delaying the start because enough people were late because of the accident.
Saturday the boys and I went to our karate graduation. I had thought about doing a 5k that morning- it’s one I’ve done a number of times- and time-wise I could have done it, but it would have been tight. But with Jeremy and Sunshine gone, I’d have had to take the boys with me. River could have run it with me, but Ocean doesn’t have the staying power, so I’d have had to put him in the jogging stroller. I haven’t run with the jogging stroller in years and he’s heavy- it wouldn’t have been a fun race. Overall, it was a good decision not to over-schedule the morning.
Tuesday temperatures hit the mid 90s and Wednesday and Thursday were in the low 90s. The saving grace was that the humidity wasn’t high. But temps in the 90s in May (and in April, since it happened last month, too) only serve to remind me of one of the reasons why I want to move. I really do not like the heat and humidity.
