Monday I wasn’t quite as productive as I’d hoped, though I did manage a little sewing on my rucksack. Spent some time online, updating the PDFs that go with my course- I needed to make some edits to reflect some changes I made to the course now that students can sign up and start at any time.
I also took River to the orthodontist to fix a wire that came loose over the weekend and ran a couple errands on the way home.
I’m trying to mentally get in the place I need to be to get everything done. I’m two weeks out from the next convention and while I’ve made progress on my to-do list, there’s still a lot on it.
I also signed up for another homeschool convention, this one here in Virginia. I’d applied for it last year, but didn’t attend since it was only held online. When I was clearing out my inbox, I found an email from a couple weeks ago saying I’d been approved to attend as a vendor. This one’s only an hour and a half away, so I won’t have a day of travel on either side of the convention, which will help with Jeremy having to take time off. Right now I’m trying to decide if I’ll stay in a hotel nearby or drive home each night. I’ll only need a hotel for two nights, so I may do that just to make my life easier and less exhausting. I need to check the hotel rates before I make a final decision.
This convention is actually the one I attended years ago that showed me there were lots of different ways of homeschooling and helped me decide to go ahead and homeschool.
Tuesday we went to music lessons, then I worked on miscellaneous time sucks. I ordered a floor sign, finally sent info off to the guy on Fiverr who’s supposed to illustrate some scavenger hunt lists for me, ordered a few more shirts for the next convention (smaller sizes), and so on.
I did a little more sewing on the rucksack, but my serger was having problems. Hopefully it’s just dull needles, which will be easy to replace. If that’s not the issue, I’m not sure how to fix it.
I also went through and bagged up materials and gathered everything for several boxes, so they’re ready to go. I have one box that needs to be shipped out, so it was a good time to see what I have on hand.
At karate class we used our nunchucks for the first time. We’ll definitely need to practice a lot.
Wednesday it rained overnight, so I tried to use the treadmill to get some running in, but it wouldn’t turn on all the way. It’s been a couple years since I last used it, so this isn’t completely surprising, but it is annoying. I am not ready for the Ragnar race at the end of the month and I really have to get some more running in.
I had my accountability call. N and her husband are into living sustainably and she had come across some food storage recommendations from the church, so she asked about that and we had a good discussion about how and why and what to store. It also provided the opening to tell her about the DC temple open house, which I’d been wanting to invite her to.
I finished gathering stuff for the box I needed to ship, then I took it to the UPS store.
Thursday we went to karate, then stopped by the church so Sunshine could get her temple recommend renewed.
Friday Sunshine was supposed to go to the Philadelphia Temple with the youth from our ward, but she’d gone to bed with a sore throat and didn’t feel any better when she woke up, so she ended up staying home.
Midmorning the boys and I met some friends at the local Mennonite store that also has some farm animals and a playground. It’s been a couple years since we last went, and the boys had a good time running around and feeding the goats.
Saturday I had a massive headache that never really went away, which basically made the day useless.
Taking the half dose of meds has been much easier to get used to, though it’s not without its problems. I can still feel when it’s kicking in at random points throughout the day. I’ve had mild headaches, but nothing like it was the first time I tried these meds at full strength. I have a followup with my doc next week and we’ll discuss what’s going on with it then.
