Monday I went for a trail run with Max. Then there were more phone calls to be made. Our health insurance company, arranging River’s frenectomy and coordinating things with his orthodontist. Lots of fun.
Tuesday River had his frenectomy consult and we scheduled frenectomy for the beginning of March, which means we’ll have to change the date of his braces being put on, though only by a week or so.
Sunshine did her piano lesson online while I took River to his appointment (they’d squeezed us in, so beggars couldn’t be choosers on the timing of the appointment. Later I did the grocery shopping and we went to karate class.
Wednesday I did a short trail run with Max.
Then I went to my podiatry appointment. He recommended some different orthotics and did a foam buildup on both the new and old orthotics to relieve pressure on the ball of my feet (this is the same issue as in 2014, when I last went to the podiatrist). X-rays show the very beginnings of arthritis and a tiny bone spur in the big toe joint of my left foot, which has been giving me problems the last 6 months. Unfortunately, there’s nothing that can be done about it other than wear supportive shoes. The podiatrist wants me to stop wearing my old running shoes as my daily shoes and <barefoot> karate won’t help the toe situation, but I’m also not going to stop because of it, which was the only other option he offered. I need to look into what I can do to help my joints/reduce inflammation/etc. I’ve always expected to have arthritis since my mom has had RA for years, but I’d rather not let it keep me from being active.
I had my accountability call then made some more phone calls. The orthodontist to push back River’s braces to accommodate the date change of his frenectomy, the periodontist to cancel the original frenectomy (they didn’t take our insurance), which I thought I’d canceled, till they called Tuesday evening to confirm his appointment. Good thing they called since I knew I’d called to check about the insurance issue, but couldn’t remember if I’d canceled it or not.
I sent some info to the psychologist to get moving on my ADHD eval. I never heard back from the female nurse practitioner an hour away, so I’m going forward with the older male psychologist who’s local. I realized I was hesitating with him because of being gaslighted by so many male doctors in my early twenties when I was trying to find answers to my health issues. With limited options available because of our insurance, I just have to move forward anyway. I really hope he actually listens….
Jeremy went and got a covid test on the way home from work. He’d been feeling a bit off and wanted to make sure he hadn’t gotten sick while at drill last weekend. He should get the results on Friday.
I got a text Tuesday from one of the bishopric members asking us both to come in Thursday evening. We ended up just doing a phone call with him since we don’t want to go anywhere right now if Jeremy is positive. We were called as Primary teachers (probably Ocean’s class or the one just younger, we haven’t talked to the Primary president yet to know for sure), which actually wasn’t on my radar. It should have been, since my replacement as YW president was a Primary teacher with her husband, as was the YW advisor who just got called, so they left spots that need to be filled.
Our ward is large enough and has good enough attendance rates that we’ve only ever had one calling at a time till recently. Jeremy was called as an assistant stake auditor at the beginning of the year, but that’s a temporary position that will be done by the end of the month when they finish the annual audits, and he’s still the assistant clerk over membership for a bit longer. The ward clerk just got called a few weeks ago, so they’re going to give him a bit more time to settle in before changing out the membership clerk as well. Fun for Jeremy, though the membership clerk really isn’t a high stress job- he mostly just does the counting every week, which anyone can do.
Thursday we all just stayed home. Jeremy was sick and Sunshine and I felt crummy. The boys felt fine, of course.
Friday we stayed home again, still feeling crummy. I took a rapid test that said I’m negative, so I’ve just got some crud, I guess.
First thing Saturday morning Jeremy got his test results: he’s positive. I was supposed to help out at the stake youth activity our ward was in charge of (since I’d helped with the original planning of it and the bishop is out of town), so I called around and made sure everyone knew I wouldn’t be there and what needed to be done. Don’t think I really needed to be there in the first place, so hopefully it’s not a huge deal.
Jeremy contacted the people from his unit that he’d come in contact with last weekend and one of the guys he sat next to during meals (and therefor without masks) was like “oh yeah, I had <long list of symptoms>, but I just slept for 20 hours and feel fine now. It’s probably just a false positive.” Um, thanks dude who totally got Jeremy sick and is firmly in denial.
Sunday I took another rapid test, but it was still negative. I wasn’t sure if the tests were actually accurate or not, so Jeremy and Sunshine did one each as well. Sunshine also is negative (she’s been feeling crummy along with me), but Jeremy’s was immediately positive- no waiting period needed. Sunshine and I must have picked up some crud at Scouts (now being held in an elementary school) on Monday or at karate on Tuesday.
