We’re fairly sure Ocean has some oppositional defiance stuff going on, and he’s currently struggling to respond appropriately when he gets upset when something doesn’t go how he wants it to. This is not helped when his older brother deliberately antagonizes him, as siblings frequently do. I was talking to River, asking him to support his brother as he tries to respond better and to not deliberately antagonize him and make things harder for his brother.
Me- “Do you hear me?”
River- “Yes”
Me- “Do you understand?”
River- “Yes”
Me- “Will you do better?”
River- “No”
Well, at least he’s honest. Though I think it was partly him not actually paying attention, despite my first two questions trying to make sure he was. He does try to help his brother, but it’s <understandably> hard for him when Ocean lashes out. Like many things in life, it’s a work in progress for all of us.
